    UPDATE - Dealer replied on here asking me to get in touch. I did immediately. Have had no response or acknowledgement in nearly a week.

    Initially wanted this booking to be a collection/delivery basis as a Motability customer, but was informed of the new £30 charge which put me off. Then my husband made enquiries about driving the car up on my behalf and has recently taken his driving test to ensure he can help me even more given that I have been particularly unwell in recent months. He was advised that so long as he passed his test, he would be able to use a courtesy car.

    When we actually made the booking we were told that wasn’t true, and having had the licence for less than a year he wouldn’t be able to use a courtesy car. We were told to approach Motability… but they only supply a hire car if the dealer has the car for three days.


    So we had to make special arrangement for lifts etc to get the car to you for the 0800 drop off. At which my husband was asked if there was a specific time the car was needed for. He said that we’d need it as soon as possible (expecting it would be ready mid afternoon given that the recall work was explained to be a couple of hours of work).

    Turns out that the car wasn’t even started until 1300 and as such wasn’t then ready to be collected until the very end of the business day making it impossible for my husband to return in time. That meant that the car had to stay overnight. With my health having been really bad recently and also the fact that my grandmother had to be taken into hospital while the car has been out of action, the added stress of getting to/from the dealer and then not having it back when we were expecting it, we’ve been left with a pretty sour taste when it comes to Marshall.

    This comes on top of a previous very poor service experience at the same dealer (when you were Motorline).

    The car is due for renewal and we had been looking at the new model Kona, but if we are going to have troubles with the after sales aspect, then it would definitely put us off coming back for a new vehicle.

    I was looked after by Chris at Hyundai Gatwick and I cannot fault the experience in any way. From the very beginning he was friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable and efficient.
