- Rating 2.0Apr 29, 2025The service was not the best. I was walked to the courtesy car as they needed the car for the full day, I was shown the gears and that’s it. I got in the car, figured out how to manoeuvre the chair and turned the car on. It only had 12 miles of fuel and 15% battery (which couldn’t be used). I went back inside after only seeing an electric charging point and asked what fuel it was. He said he didn’t know and came out with me. We established it was a hybrid and that it needs fuel. I went to the nearest fuel station and then realised I didn’t know what fuel it took. So I had to call the garage again to ask. He told me petrol and then smartly said, ‘we only have petrol vehicles’. He may know that they only have petrol vehicles but I did not. It was a highly stressful situation that I shouldn’t have been put in.
I was told they would call me when I could collect. They text with no explanation as the car needed work and the part couldn’t come in that day so I was confused about what was happening. So I took the initiative and called the garage, again, and they said I need to collect my car because he knows the bill is too high and motability won’t pay for it. So I had to ask what to do. I then called Motability and was then put through to Direct Line.
Furthermore, when I collected my car the service wash was very poor. It simply looked like it had been hosed down with water and that’s it. Nothing was done to the inside. From prior experiences, this was always done when the car went for a service.
Lastly, the person that drove my car back out had moved my seat and I couldn’t get in the car. I’m 6ft, and he quite clearly wasn’t. The seat was as close to the steering wheel as it could get. Surely it should be put back to how it arrived, or close to it at least.
I know this vehicle is for my son, and I am very grateful for it. I rarely make complaints, if ever. I’m highlighting this because if It’s happening to me then it’s happening to others. The car isn’t for me, but I have mobility issues and a degenerative back condition whereby I found yesterday really hard to navigate with pain levels etc. that being said, I’m still more able-bodied than others in the scheme. My concern is for them and how they’d be able to manage the stressful and physically taxing situation. It may not seem like a big deal to someone that’s doesn’t need to work up the courage to stand up through pain, but it’s a lot, and will be a lot for people who are on the scheme. So this showroom needs to evaluate their protocols and potentially retrain workers on protocols and having compassion/empathy.Response from Marshall Hyundai GatwickApr 29, 2025Good afternoon.
