    At 10:00 am on 5th June 2025 I took my wife’s Motability eUp into Group 1 Chelmsford for its MOT, and to have a fault with charge cap locking system investigated. I have given 2 stars only because the MOT was carried out and the fault identified.
    Communication with the Group 1 Service Department has, however, been appalling.
    • At 5:00 pm on 5th June, having heard nothing from Group 1 about the outcome of the MOT and fault investigation I tried ringing the Service Department. Despite repeated attempts my calls went unanswered. When I rang Group 1 Reception, I was eventually told that the person dealing with the car was not at her desk but that a message would be left for her to phone me back. I did not receive a return call.
    • Early on the morning of 6th June Group 1 rang me asking me to bring the courtesy car back. It was only then, when I asked about the eUp, was I told that it had passed its MOT, and I could drive it away.
    • When I arrived at Group 1 to pick up the eUp I was told that a fault with the charge cap actuator had been identified but that Motability would need to be contacted to authorise the repair. I was told that I would be contacted again once the authorisation had been received and the replacement part acquired.
    • By 20th June I was still waiting for further contact from Group 1. Multiple attempts to ring both the Service Department and Reception went unanswered.
    • My wife rang Motability to see if the repair had been authorised and was told that, on12th June, Motability had asked Group 1 to test the charge cable, take a photograph of the charge cable, and provide a description of the problem.
    • On 24th June my wife started a formal complaints procedure with VW (Case no: 06109363). It was only today (3rd July) that I was called by one of the Service Department to be told that Motability had refused to authorise the repair.
