I’ve always had good dealing with Motability till recently where my car was due in for an MOT and service as I had hit the mileage for one and the service light was on.
They phoned me to say to keep the hire car overnight as they was waiting for a part to come in that my car needed as it was marked in red on the mot and was a possible mot failure.
The following day, the dealership phoned me to say that motability had declined the to pay for the part and to phone motability and ask them what the next steps was because the car had failed the mot and it was illlegal to drive it away.
I then Phoned motability where I was told it was suspected damage and that it had to go through my insurance and I had to phone them to put a claim through.
I then phoned my insurance to be told it was in fact ware and tear and wouldn’t be covered by insurance because it wasnt damaged through an accident or incident!
I then spoke to motability again to tell them this and they told me to phone the dealership because it wasnt covered by the warranty and that I could get the work done elsewhere or ask the dealership if I pay the repair by instalments.
I was fighting a loosing battle, one said wear & Tear the other said suspected damage!
The part was for a faulty seat base clip, that was a safety issue on a mot.
How this has been broke is a mystery because im pretty sure it hasn’t been done by me and was fine the day before when I was wiping this interior down ready for the Garage.
But that is not all, I sort out payment plan, picked the car up afterwards and to my absolute astonishment when I got home I looked at the paperwork and I had been charged £190.62 FOR LABOUR!!!!! The clips in question were £4.02!!! I was bullied into paying for this, and if I had known that I would have got more advise.
Also, the service light was still on, and a rattling noise that I told them that was coming from the front of the engine was still happening….dealership said they don’t do services when a car is due back!
I’m still wondering why I was made to pay for this part and so much for labour when things like this should be considered covered, it has cause so much stress, and stress affects my condition, that has but me into a flare up!
NEARLY £200 labour for a part that cost £4????? Please tell me I’m not going crazy!!
Now I’m wondering how this has happened, was it someone at the dealership ?? Or is it simply wear & tear? Why as a motability customer have I had to pay that much is beyond anything I have ever had to deal with!!
