Arnold Clark - Rating 4.0Sep 19, 2023Dropped off our last motability VW GOLF in exchange for a new one on 18-9-23. As usual their sales guy Steven Lyddle was ever helpful and friendly. I was also greatly assisted by their young tech guy Lewis Collins on the new digital dashboard on this Mark 8 Golf. Lewis really knows his stuff that's for sure. I would have gave 5 stars had it not been for the VW factory in Wolfsburg Deutschland who have pre set these Mark 8 Golf with all the passenger doors set to CHILD LOCK which won't unlock via the fob key when you press unlock from outside the vehicle. The back hatch door also won't unlock half the time even after depressing the hatch boot part of the fob key multiple times. These dodgy fob door issues are the fault of VW and NOT Arnold Clark dealerships. Hopefully I,ll hear back from someone via VW who can talk me through the unlocking of this digi tech lock on all of the passenger doors ?. Thanks, Richard Murphy. Update October4th :- Turns out the passenger doors issue with this Mark 8 model is due to VW in Deutschland setting them to external lock by default. This can be ( after some investigation online) undone via the EXTERNAL features section on the cars dashboard 10 inch infotainment screen. Only there can this insane and in my opinion unsafe default locking of the 3 passenger doors and hatch rear door be reset to default unlock, with a singular press of the cars fob key. ( And in reverse default lock with a single press of the LOCK portion of the fob key.) Some hearsay online surmises that the VW factory in Wolfsburg presets these cars like this as some sort of safety feature against new car owners being car jacked whilst the car is stationery at traffic lights for example. In our case this mystery is now resolved but we envisage other leasers owners of this Mark 8 Golf will still be left scratching the heads for 2 to 4 days trying to find an answer to this foible.Response from Arnold Clark Volkswagen Pollokshaws Rd GlasgowOct 4, 2023Hi Anne,
