- Rating 1.0Dec 29, 2024I had a shocking experience for the first time ever with Mercedes Sheffield (JCT600). The order took longer than the 3 months lead time that I was told at POS.
I had to chase my order myself with the SA. When it came to payment I requested to split invoices & was told not possible, only for another gracious colleague to do so effortlessly.
The emails with SA were at best tone deaf, constantly telling me my payment failed when it was in fact MISSING and he was not making best efforts to chase it up with relavent teams.
All the butterflies and excitement were gone by the time I collected the car only to find my name and initials completely wrong which cemented my thoughts that the SA didn't care about the details and how he made me feel throughout. By this time he should have known my name really. I am a social media influencer and this is the day and age of digital tech. It's all about the details and this was also upsetting.
The car itself had minor scratches at all window panels which they blamed on cheap materials that they use when in fact it's caused by the quality of cloth they use to clean after removing the packaging.
They claimed they used a microfibre cloth though and went on to show me a worn out with no fibres. All the other cars in the showroom had similar scratches and as someone who has always seen brand new Mercedes cars I know what I'm talking about and I also know when I'm being fobbed off by salesmen. They didn't accept that their cleaning cloths were causing this and ignored my concerns.
The car had streaks everywhere which really upset me. I am unsure what has happened to quality assurance with Mercedes but they are so defensive for their poor standards and make all manner of excuses. NEW means NEW without scratches, swirls or any sort of dirt. I have never felt so disappointed with a new car the way I do with this one. Part of me says it will be my last. People are paying a lot of money and don't deserve to be fobbed off.
My dad only drove Mercedes and I have adored the brand for so long due to their impeccable standards but now it's a distant memory.
Poor customer care, arrogance and not paying attention to detail can put customers right off. There are still good people in the branch who made my experience worthwhile and the manager Jonathan was great as he understood why I was upset.
Bad customer service can affect a good brand. Hopefully they will change the cloths they use to clean new cars in order to avoid unnecessarily scratching them and I hope they understand new means new.
When I went home the Reserve fuel light came on.
